Festival weekend events to celebrate St. Brigid

A FESTIVAL celebrating Brigid of Faughart at Imbolc takes place in Dundalk, Faughart and Ravensdale next weekend.

' The emphasis of this festival is to revisit and reclaim the richness of the traditions associated with Brigid of Faughart in ways which are relevant to our lives in 21st century,' says organiser Dolores Whelan.

On Saturday the Magnet Pastoral Centre, Demesne Road, is the venue for the Be the Change workshop which takes a fresh look at many of the critical current concerns.

The 5km Pilgrimage walk to Faughart takes place on Sunday off from the Peace Garden, Fair Green, at 10am

There will be an opportunity to explore the Sacred Sites of Faughart Hill, from noon to 1pm, facilitated by Pat O'rourke.

will

give a talk on 'Brigid and the Cosmic Landscape' in the Magnet Pastoral Centre on Sunday at 2.30pm. Cost €10, concession €7.

A ritual celebration of Brigid and the festival of Imbolc takes in Ravensdale Community Hall on Sunday at 6.30pm facilitated by May Coyle, Stephanie O'hanlon and Dolores Whelan. There will be an evening of evening of poetry, story and song with Michael Farry and Kevin Stanley and Dundalk writers on Monday at 8pm in Riva Townhouse.

Fr Tom Hamill will celebrate the Eucharist for St Brigid's Day in the oratory at Faughart shrine on Wednesday February 1st at 1pm

Circle Dancing with Stephanie O'hanlon takes place in the Outcomers Hall, Roden Place at 7.30pm. Cost €10.
