First motorway service station to open in weeks
THE country's first motorway service station is set to open outside Dundalk at the end of the month. The Argus can confirm that the long-awaited facility will be unveiled on September 28th, with flagship names including Burger King and Costa Coffee and a wide range of facilities on site. The new 24-hour station is being built in the townland of Whiterath, 2.5 kilometres north of the Castlebellingham junction and six kilometres south of the Dundalk (south) junction.
Postal worker to help orphans in Moldova
A DUNDALK postal worker is heading on a humanitarian mission to help some of the most vulnerable people in Eastern Europe. Anthony McCrave, the Dundalk branch secretary of the Communication Workers' Union (CWU) is heading to Moldova tomorrow ( Thursday) with 75 tonnes of aid for an orphanage. The orphanage, in the independent but not officially recognised state of Transnistra, needs basic equipment to help keep it running.

Respond! examining possible solutions
THE housing organisation responsible for Riverwell Close in Dundalk claim they are working to find a resolution to the estate's 'sinking house'. Following a query from the Argus, Respond! issued a statement about Jonathan Scales's case. The statement said: 'Respond! was made aware of complex structural problems in relation to ( Jonathan's house at) Riverwell Close when our resident raised some concerns with us about the property in 2006.
