FUNDING of over €6 million has been allocated to Louth County Council for improvement and safety works for local roads.
'A total of 5,391,000 has been allocated for improvements to National Primary and National Secondary roads in Louth.
'This funding includes just over 1.6 million for the NI Border/Dundalk Bypass. This Bypass has decreased journey times between the north and south and has helped to increase the road safety of drivers,' said Louth Senator James Carroll.
' The Ardee Bypass is also to receive 1,550,000 which will help to progress this project significantly.'
'Funding of 734,900 has been allocated for the maintenance of National Primary and National Secondary routes in Louth which will include work on bridges, motorways, route lighting and work during the winter.'
'I am pleased that despite financial constraints that Louth is to receive 6 million for our roads.
'I am especially pleased that the Dundalk and Ardee bypasses are to receive funding that will allow a significant amount of work to progress on these projects,' concluded Senator Carroll.
