Daniel O'Riordan was jailed yesterday afternoon ( Tuesday) for five years after he was found guilty on all seven counts following a six-day trial at Dundalk Circuit Court. 21-year-old O'Riordan from Bellurgan Point was on trial following a fatal accident at Annaloughan on March 25th, 2007 in which 17-year-old Dave Keenan from Bog Road, Mountpleasant and 64-year-old George Campbell from Annaloughan, Jenkinstown were both killed.
The jury of six men and six women returned at 3.25pm with unanimous verdicts on all seven charges after three hours of deliberations.
There were emotional scenes as the verdicts were read to the packed courtroom which included family and friends of both Dave Keenan and George Campbell.
Judge Matt Deery sentenced O'Riordan to five years in jail and banned him from driving for 15 years.
