Had €10 worth of cannabis

Wednesday February 01 2012

A TEENAGER who was found with €10 worth of cannabis has been given the benefit of the probation act after he pleaded guilty to drug possession.

Steven Byatt, (19), Ballyoran Road, Louth Village, was stopped by Gardai as he was walking with friends on the Ramparts Road on February 2nd 2011 and the small amount of cannabis was found on him. Solicitor Frank Mcdonnell said his client hasn't dabbled in drugs since last year and is working in a job now. He said Byatt was very embarrassed about this incident and had no previous convictions.

Judge Flann Brennan told Byatt to stay away from drugs as 'they ruin people's lives'. He dismissed the case under the probation act.
