HSE to put a contingency plan in place
THE Health Service Executive in the northeast has stated that contingency plans for the expected public sector retirements at the end of this month, 'are being developed at a local service level' to cover 'any gaps' that may result.
In response to a query about the exact numbers and grades of staff that will retire at the end of February, the HSE released a short statement. The statement said: ' The HSE is acutely aware of the challenges that face the health services this year, both in terms of reduced staffing levels and a reduced budget. These challenges are outlined clearly in the 2012 National Service Plan, which was published last week.
'Contingency plans are being developed at a local service level to cover any gaps that may arise as a result of staff retiring at the end of February. ' The full extent of staff reductions will become clearer at this time.
'Local managers and senior clinicians are engaged in developing innovative solutions in order to deal with reduced resources in 2012'.
