PAT and Beda Markey are the only couple from the original batch of tenants still residing in the estate.

Others there from the start are Briege Breen, Cepta McCartney, Josie Maguire, Josie Lambe and Johnny Watters.

Of the newer residents quite a few are the second generation of their family and have barely lived anywhere else, except for a short period, after growing up in the estate and marrying and now have families of their own.

An example is present residents' association secretary, Rita Lynch (nee Berrill), and other fellow members of the body, Seamus Breen, Ed Smyth and Gerard McArdle.

The others who comprise the association are Jackie McArdle and Rita's husband Fintan, Rosemary Smyth and Gerry Kerr.

The association was started in 1985, with Pat Markey the first chairman, and the other officers, Peter Murtagh RIP vice-chairman, Michael Crosby, treasurer, and Jacinta Daly (nee McArdle) secretary.

The move to form the association was instigated by Deputy Dermot Ahern.

The green at this time was cut once or twice a year, and the grass was left to scatter all over the place.

The residents took over responsibility for the upkeep of the estate, and over the years progressed from a manual driven to now having their own ride-on lawnmower to cut the green.
