Party people flock to reopening as Ridleys

REVELLERS KICK UP THEIR HEELS AS CHRISTMAS PARTY

Wednesday December 23 2009

THE night that all nightclub goers have been waiting for eventually arrived, the official reopening of Ridleys bar and nightclub and the place was packed from early on as everyone wanted to experience the reincarnation of the most popular nightclub this town has seen in many years and they certainly weren't disappointed with what they found.

The new set up is slick, stylised and audience friendly with a cracking sound and lighting system, a rather familiar dancefloor and a capacity to facilitate many happy clubbers, and don't forget to check out the Barry Kehoe tribute on one of the walls, good taste and a great night guaranteed.

I wasn't too long in the door when I met up with Mandy Stewart from Oakland Park, Tracy Stewart from Muirhevnamor, Natasha McKeever from O'Hanlon Park and Gareth Todd from Lisdoo who told me he thought the place was brilliant. They were joined by Anniemarie Mellon from Mountain View, Joanna Takubowicz and Egle Moncete and Anniemarie wanted a big shout out for her sister Grace who couldn't make it on the night, she went on to say that this was Ovelle on their Christmas bash.

Not too long later I got talking to Ciara McBride from Defenders Row, Marie O'Hagan from Albert Place and Christine Drumm from Barrack Street who told me they thought the place was unbelievable and wanted to say 'go on Brian!'

Not too far away I then met up with Caoimhe Temple from Haggardstown, Caroline Colwell from Cavan, Deirdre Clarke from the Laurels and Tracy Martin from Pearse Park who told me they are from St Malachy's School.

I then got a word with Brian and Aveen Brady from Carrick Road who were there to check out the place and Brian told me he thought it was 'Joanna Lumley' better known as absolutely fabulous!

Seated close by were Daniel Aaroe and Jeg Er Gøff both from Ard Dealgan and not too far away I then met up with Kevin Hillard from Knockbridge whom I was reliably told was the best carpenter working on the Ridleys transformation and he was with the smiling Anthony Wynne from Knockbridge.

I then had a walk round to see who else was there and had the pleasure of talking to Cliona Lambe from Knockbridge and Maria McGuill from Kilkerley who were suitably impressed.

Not too long later I caught up with Simon Blackmore from Point Road who was there with Peter Fergus who tried to tell me he was John Finnegan, but I was having none of it, they were joined by Anne McArdle and Martin Agnew both from Doyles-
