In the 12-hole Eclectic/turkey competition, James Coburn (8) followed up his previous week's success by winning the penultimate week's play with 26 points. Second place went to Raymond Flynn with 25, one better than club President Charlie O'hare.
The weather curtailed the week's competition activities and the Sunday morning players were looking for birdies and eagles as they tried to improve on their overall score, not bothering with the weekly prize.
With one week to go, the top of the table is as follows: David Pilkington (handicap 3) gross 36/nett 33; Fr Kevin Cullen (7) 40/33; James Coburn 8 41/33; Pearse Murphy 10 43/33; Andrew Brodigan 8 42/34; Jim Mc Kay 3 38/35; Paddy Malone 5 40/35; Gareth Kilgallon 8 43/35; Noel Magill 10 45/35; Raymond Martin 10 45/35; Mark Shevlin 10 45/35; Peter Smyth 11 46/35; Barry Mc Keown 7 43/36; Mickey Rushe 7 43/36; Mark Conlon 7 43/36; Sean Conroy 7 43/36; Cathal Hughes 11 47/36; Ronnie Clarke 11 47/36.
No doubt if the weather is kind there will be a lot of cards returned this week in this multiple entry competition over the 12 holes with 7/16 of the handicap and a par 46 which has proven so popular in the run-up to Christmas. A reminder to all members that Sunday sees the last prize presentation of the year and all outstanding prizes which have not been already collected will be voided and used next year if the winners do not pick them up on Sunday.
The last person standing continues as and with a winner in the 93rd minute by Sunderland saving Eugene Creelman, as opponent Karla Casey had been spending her winnings, with Liverpool winning for her on Saturday. Don't miss out on the next one which will start the weekend of January 14th.
