ON Sunday last in glorious sunshine a very large crowd assembled on the first tee for Captain Seán O'Hanlon and Lady Captain Pat Cluskey' s drive-in. The presentation and condition of the course was beyond everyone's expectation for the time of year. Winners, Kevin Cormican (10), Jarlath Digney (13), Donal P. O' Hagan (17), Catherine Woods (36) with 57.4; 2nd Damian White (7), Brian Connor (18), Pacelli Gallagher (22), Ciaran Crawley (18), 57.5; 3rd Brendan Tumilty (6), Damian Smith (6), Brendan Doherty (20), Siobhán O'Hagan (28) with 58.

Tony splits fairway

THE SUN was splitting the stones last Saturday morning as Tony Harte, incoming Captain of Fitzpatrick's Society split the first fairway at Dundalk with a fine drive to open the 2010 season.

THE Jockey's Society start their 2010 season with Captain Des Duffy's drive-in at Killin Park on Saturday next. Tee-off is at 9.45 am.

Shotgun start

THE Captains' Drive-in will be held next Sunday at 9am followed by a shotgun start scramble with complimentary snacks and refreshments before the prize presentation immediately after play is ended. There is already a big entry on the timesheet so you better get your name down if you forgot as teams will be drawn on Friday.

SPRING League ( Week 6), 9 Hole Stableford Competition, Saturday 27th February - Tuesday 2nd March: Class A, Anna McKenna (14) 20 points (On back 3), 2nd Louise Lynn (17) 20 points. Class B, Geraldine Rogers (25) 24 points; runner-up, Theresa Connolly (27) 23 points. Class C, Pat Cleary (34) 23 points; runner-up, Leone Baillie (33) 22 Points.

THE first week of the team event in the 12 hole Spring League saw only 4 points seperating the 10 competing teams. With the best four cards out of 6 counting towards the team score there were three teams tied for the lead on 104 points.
