KICK-OFF for this game had to be put back almost one hour to allow the pitch to defrost sufficiently so that it was safe enough for the boys to play on.

Delaying the start did not curb the enthusiasm of both teams as straight from the kick-off Quay had a marvellous chance to open the scoring and only the agility of Ciaran Finnegan in the Bellurgan goal kept it scoreless.

Both teams had chances with Eoin Byrne coming close for Bellurgan.

In the second half the tide turned in favour of the hosts who opened the scoring with an excellent free-kick from Shane Gregory.

Quay fought back and two quick goals put them in the lead but Bellurgan had more to offer and a fine hat-trick from man of the match Conor Loughran put the eventual winners back in control.

The game finished with a fine solo effort by Cian Duffy to leave it 5-2.

Best for Bellurgan were Paddy Lynch, Jason Gregory, Cian Duffy and Conor Loughran.
